Rewind: Van Halen Cancer- Axl Stalker- Metallicops- Britney Offered $10 Million for Sex- A Perfect Circle- Travis Barker Attacked and more of the top stories from April - June 2000 was a top story for this week. Here it is again: Rewind for April thru June of 2000. As we come closer to the year 2010, we're going to be taking a quick look back at some of the biggest stories of the past decade.

Van Halen announced on their official web site that Eddie Van Halen has began receiving treatment for cancer. The rock guitarist, a long time smoker, is reported to be suffering from cancer of the tongue. He began a 12-week treatment regiment last Thursday at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. more

For the past four years a thirty-nine year old women named Karen McNeil, has stalked Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose. Claiming that she is the singers' wife and she speaks with him telepathically, she has been a thorn in his side. Axl had a restraining order issued against McNeil after she snuck into his Malibu home and discovered him playing his guitar in the kitchen. The restraining order forbids McNeil from going near Rose. She broke that order on Tuesday, May 16th when she allegedly tried to break into Rose's home once again. more [This is the same women recently in the news for stalking Justin Timberlake more on that]

Maynard James Keenan returns with his new band A Perfect Circle. Keenan is the bands vocalist and primary lyricist while Billy Howerdel acts as chief composer and guitarist to form the nucleus of the group. Rounding out the line up are Josh Freese of the Vandals on drums, Paz Lenchantin on bass and violin plus Troy Van Leeuwen on guitar. more

The folks at Campchaos.com have released another animated short poking fun at the Metallica vs. Napster lawsuit. The third cartoon in the "Napster Bad" series is called MetalliCOPS, a spoof on the Fox television program, "Cops". more. Cartoons are still available here

Two men attacked Travis Barker of Blink-182 Sunday in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. The fight was said to be have broken out after two men started hitting on his girlfriend at a fast-food restaurant, making crude remarks. The couple left the restaurant and were attacked while walking down the street. more

British and Canadian press outlets are reporting that an American businessman contacted Britney Spears record label, Jive, and presented an offer of $10 million ($17 million Canadian) for the Teen diva to sleep with him. more

A judge has dismissed all of the claims in the lawsuit filed by former KISS guitarist Vinnie Vincent against his old band mates. The suit was filed in July of 1997 and accused Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley of cheating him out of royalty income. more

In an age when multi-platinum bands are suing mp3 sites, Limp Bizkit is getting paid by them. Napster is onboard as the sponsor for a free tour to feature Limp Bizkit, Cypress Hill and an as yet unnamed third act. more

Billy Corgan announced that the Smashing Pumpkins are throwing in the towel. Corgan made his surprising announcement on the alternative radio station KROQ in Los Angeles on Tuesday. Originally the band planned to tell the world they were breaking up when they released their latest album MACHINA/the machines of GOD. However they changed their minds fearing the announcement would overshadow the album. Corgan told KROQ "But now that the album is out, it's fine. We wanted to make one more album to leave things on a positive note." more

A former employee of James Brown filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against the Godfather of Soul last week. Lisa Agbalaya claims that when she turned down Mr. Brown's sexual advances she was fired. Agbalaya is suing for $2 million for sexual harassment and wrongful termination. more

With all the controversy surrounding fans trading MP3 files as of late, Courtney Love says that it's the Record Companies who are ripping off artists, not the fans. more

Motorhead's drummer was busted for raising hell in a Holiday Inn in Denver last Friday. Mikkey Dee and two other people who are attached to the current Motorhead tour were arrested after another guest at the hotel complained about the noise the three were making in the hallways at 4:30 am. more

Many thought he was a weirdo for changing his name to a glyph. It turns out he was just being a shrewd businessman. That's right, Prince is once again Prince. No more artist formally known as. The purple one says he doesn't plan to change his name again as he much prefers his given birth name, Prince Rogers Nelson. more

Another story that shows that some things never change: Rapper DMX is back in the news. In March a warrant was issued for his arrest after he failed to appear in court. On Wed, May 3rd, the rapper turned himself in to police in Ceektowage, N.Y. more

MTV news is reporting that Kevin Cadogan has filed a multimillion-dollar lawsuit against his former bandmates in Third Eye Blind. The federal lawsuit was filed last week against the band, lead vocalist Stephen Jenkins and others. Cadogan's lawsuit includes claims of fraud and breach of contract. more

Pollstar reports that MTV has banned the new video from Primus. MTV apparently felt that the video for "Lacquer Head" was too pro-drug. more

Have you heard the urban legend that claims that Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" is perfectly synced to the movie "The Wizard of Oz "? Looks like subscribers of the Turner Classics Movie channel will be able to witness the legend first hand. more

The tables have turned. MP3Board, Inc which operates an MP3 search site of the same name filed a lawsuit on June 2nd against the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). more
