Each Audio Quest episode, of which there will be ten in all, follows Captain Lights as a super-hero on a galactic adventure to restore sound to the universe. Audio Quest is a natural evolution for Lights: a talented visual artist herself, she is no stranger to science fiction and the world of comics.
"MTV saw a unique opportunity to bring together Lights with Tomm Coker, a renowned visual artist from the comics world. The outcome is a stunning visual expression of a pop artist's point of view," said Joe Cuello, Vice President, Creative Music Integration, MTV.
The 22-year-old Toronto singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist crafts her own brand of sparkling, otherworldly electro-pop that is, in her words "soft, but not pussy-soft, you know?" Lights' songs have already garnered over 17 million plays on MySpace, and on the strength of her self-titled EP alone, Lights won the 2009 JUNO for New Artist of the Year.
Lights' debut full-length album The Listening will be released in the US October 6, 2009. The video for her first single "Saviour" premiered on MySpace last month and immediately shot to the number one spot. It has remained one of the top videos on MySpace with close to one million views and counting. Rolling Stone has already called Lights a "retro new wavekeytar-rocking pixie," and the Toronto Star praised her as "the very epitome of D.I.Y.pin-up cool."
To support The Listening Lights will be heading out on her first ever US headlining tour. The nationwide string of dates, which come on the heels of her Canadian tour with Keane, kick off October 2nd in Philadelphia, PA and run through November 6th in Seattle, WA. Portland, Oregon indie pop trio Stars of Track and Field will be supporting.
