Ozzy's official site says that he will embark on an 18-month world tour (dates TBA) in support of new forthcoming album, Scream. The site also says that news about Ozzfest will emerge This Friday night, April 30 (that's tonight for those without a calendar.) That news could be about the return of the fest as a tour, a one-off date, or an announcement that it won't happen at all. Check Ozzy.com tonight to learn what's what. Billboard had an interesting article that puts the decline in music profits in perspective. Here is part of it: Comparing the late 2000s to the late 1990s incongruently matches an industry between product cycles (the decline of CD and the rise of digital) to an industry at the apex of the CD's product cycle. Even though the late '90s was the high point for recorded music revenue, it was an aberration. The CD was an unusually successful format the likes of which will not be seen again soon. more
