. Nuclear Power Pants is an act born out of the Wham City Collective in Baltimore, Maryland. Wham City has been the breeding ground for many other notable Baltimore bands such as Dan Deacon, Future Islands, and Videohippos, just to name a few. Nuclear Power Pants are a five-piece band of blipping, beeping, shouting, moaning, grinding, pounding, leaking craziness. This curious group is fronted by two male anti-crooners and three gorgeous, choreographed, female backup vocalists appropriately called the Redfield Librarians. The boys make the mess. The girls make it sparkle. In October 2009 the group set out on a full U.S. tour with Dan Deacon. The band raised a lot of eyebrows and a few small pocket tents. While cruising around the country they received a lot of attention from the likes of Impose Magazine, Tiny Mix Tapes, Escapist Magazine and, of course, Anchor Brain Records - who immediately begged Nuclear Power Pants to allow them to release this record. "Their live shows are absurdist carnival freakshows from the surreal and paranoid tail-end of an acid binge," says Aural States. And so the goal of this album was to capture the "chaotic yet enthralling live spectacle" onto record for all to hear - and though the live spectacle of Nuclear Power Pants may be tough to overcome, "Wicked Eats the Warrior" definitely merits a closer listen. To anyone who has ever been obsessed with the hypnotizing Moog madness of Kraftwerk, the energy of "First Issue" by PiL, or anyone who has ever been afraid to admit how much they adore The Shangri-Las, then "Wicked Eats the Warrior" is the record for you.
