Mumford & Sons Move Up Release Date and Book Late Night Shows and Some Tour Dates
. In conjunction with the new release date, the band will perform their single "Little Lion Man" on February 17th on The Late Show with David Letterman. There will also be an appearance on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson (air date TBA.) The song has been hailed as "the hottest record in the world" by DJ Zane Lowe from the UK's influential Radio 1. Sigh No More is gold in the UK and platinum in Australia. The band has several US tour dates scheduled; both the February 9th show at Los Angeles' Troubadour and the February 18th show at New York's Bowery Ballroom sold out more than a month in advance. The band will return to the US for more shows in the spring. Mumford & Sons gutsy, banjo-driven, old-time sound marries the magic of Crosby, Stills & Nash with the might of Kings of Leon and the harmonies of Fleet Foxes. Sigh No More was recently released in the UK to critical accolades. The album debuted in the UK iTunes Top 10 and is being lauded by tastemaker publications such as NME ("A band who know they're onto something not just good, but spectacular") and Q Magazine ("A record that swings from arresting fragility to hearty dynamics.") The album was recorded at Eastcote Studios, where Arctic Monkeys, Brian Eno, Tindersticks and Laura Marling all honed their sound. The band teamed with producer Markus Dravs who has worked with such stellar artists as Arcade Fire, Bjork and Peter Gabriel. Since their inception in 2007, MUMFORD & SONS have self-produced three EPs and toured the UK extensively, bringing their rootsy rock across the country. The band recently wrapped a handful of well-received performances during the annual CMJ Music Marathon in New York, which left TIME OUT NY to comment, "The Brit combo has a spine-tingling way with harmony."
