"Ready," the Grammy Award-nominated third album from Songbook Entertainment/Atlantic recording artist Trey Songz, has been certified Gold by the RIAA for sales now exceeding 500,000. This marks the celebrated R&B singer's first-ever album award certification.Songz will commemorate the blockbuster success of "READY" as special guest on Jay-Z's upcoming "BP3 Tour 2010." The massive trek – which includes hugely anticipated shows at such legendary venues as New York's Madison Square Garden – is set to begin on Saturday, February 20th at Fort Lauderdale's Bank Atlantic Center, with dates then continuing through late March (see attached itinerary).
The Prince of Virginia has been in the spotlight in recent weeks, with an array of activities including magazine covers, TV appearances, and star-studded recording sessions. Trey was among the superstars performing on Lionel Richie and Quincy Jones' new version of "We Are The World," benefiting Haitian earthquake relief organizations. The song/video – which also features such icons as Barbra Streisand, Lil Wayne, LL Cool J, and Tony Bennett – had its world premiere last weekend as part of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games' opening ceremony. Trey was also among the participants in BET's fundraising effort, SOS Saving Ourselves: Hope For Haiti, joining fellow stars like Mary J. Blige, Drake, Nas, Chris Brown, Ne-Yo, and many others.
