Susan Boyle proves that dreams still can come true as the following announcement from Columbia Records shows: Susan Boyle's 'I Dreamed A Dream' (Columbia/Syco) is the biggest selling release of 2009 after only six short weeks since being released on November 23, 2009. I Dreamed A Dream continues to hold the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 for the sixth consecutive week with 136,000 copies sold, with a total of 3.1 million copies sold to date.
Internationally, Boyle's debut album was also #1 again on the charts this week in Australia, New Zealand and the Netherlands. 'I Dreamed A Dream' has shipped over 8 million copies worldwide.
Already a RIAA-Triple Platinum Certified album in the U.S., 'I Dreamed A Dream' and Susan Boyle broke records worldwide over the past six weeks, including:
-First artist in the Billboard 200's 53-year chart history to enter the list at No. 1 with a debut album and spend six consecutive weeks at the summit
-Largest-ever debut for a female artist on the Billboard 200 in the Soundscan era
-Boyle's performance of "I Dreamed A Dream" from "Britain's Got Talent" was YouTube's most watched video of 2009
-Fastest selling global female debut
-The only 2009 release to hold the #1 spot consecutively for six weeks
