The Gaslight Anthem Score Top 20 Debut, Announce Special Gig

06/24/2010
.
The Gaslight Anthem has announced a special gig at New York City's famed Radio City Music Hall.

Performing with special guests, the band will take the stage for the first time in the storied New York venue on Thursday, September 30 to showcase the songs off their new album, American Slang, as well as old favorites. Public on-sale will begin this Friday, June 25, at 12 p.m. EST.

The Gaslight Anthem's third album, American Slang, has entered the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart, debuting at #16. Selling well over 26,000 units during its first week of release, the chart position for American Slang is the highest the band has received for any of its albums to date.

Other positions include: #1 Independent Album, #3 Current Alternative Album, and #7 Overall Digital Album. Also, AMERICAN SLANG has debuted at #18 on the UK Album Chart and #6 on the UK Digital Chart in its first week of release. In Canada, the album came in at #12 on the Top 200 Albums Chart, selling close to 3000 units.

AMERICAN SLANG was released globally last week on SideOneDummy Records. Produced by Ted Hutt (who produced the band's acclaimed second album, THE '59 SOUND), AMERICAN SLANG heralds a dramatic leap forward for the New Jersey-based band. Tracks such as "Bring It On," "Orphans" and "Stay Lucky" bristle and burn with the spirit of soul and the artistic adventurousness and confidence of a band that has come into its own and truly found its own voice.
