Single Out Atheist Week: Day 2
. Faux King Christ- This is a weird one that is for sure the opening riff is one I had in my collection of riffs to present to the band written in my little homestudio in Fla, and I really liked, but it would typically not sound like something we would use in an atheist song, it was a strange pattern i found on guitar that i just knew Steve would take to new heights, and he of course surpassed my expectations, it's a 6/8 shuffle pattern along with I think a 260 bpm Latin variation of a samba beat, very unusual in Latin music, actually unheard of, but In metal it's very unique. A lot of the guitar riffs I wrote for this song in Florida and presented them to the band and we refined it from there. We had the nickname 'Cuban Pete" for this one before it has lyrics, so all of our rehearsal tapes for this have the name Cuban Pete on it, cause it just has this very odd feel to it. The middle/lead section was written by Jonathan Thompson. The solos are a trade off between Jason Suecof, who mixed Jupiter, and Myself, this was the first solo on an atheist album in 20 years for me.. no big production, just a fun spontaneous trade off between me and Jason. Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album - right here! Preview and Purchase Atheist CDs |
