(Scoop) Imperial Stars, who recently gained notoriety for allegedly shutting down L.A.'s 101 Freeway, has announced a round of holiday charity events that combine their music with a dedicated humanitarian mission.

On November 20, the band will perform on the deck of the USS Midway at the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots Family Day in San Diego. Four days later, Imperial Stars will be back in Los Angeles to play a concert and sponsor meals for area homeless youth at the Union Rescue Mission. Then on December 10, the group will host a benefit concert at Hollywood's Highlands venue, during which they will play a headlining set and present a donation check to various aid organizations.

"We're putting our money where our mouth is," said Christopher Wright of Imperial Stars. "So far we've raised $30,000 and more is coming in every day. The holidays are especially tough on impoverished and homeless kids, so we're looking to help in any way we can, and hope that people nationwide open up their hearts and wallets too."

The U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots Family Day will take place in San Diego, CA on Saturday, November 20 from 10am - 3pm (http://www.midway.org/node/325). In addition to Imperial Stars' live performance on the deck of the USS Midway, the event will feature festive booths with fun family activities, a tour of the Midway Museum with more than 60 exhibits and 25 restored aircraft, holiday treats for sale, and a grand entrance of Santa Claus on the flight deck. The first 200 attendees to bring an unwrapped toy will receive free admission to the party and museum.

On November 24, Imperial Stars will appear at Union Rescue Mission (545 S. San Pedro St., Los Angeles, CA 90013, 213-347-6300). The group will be outside to hand out 1,000 sack lunches to the homeless population of skid row from 1 to 3 pm, in addition to entertaining attendees with a DJ set. From 5 to 6 pm, the group will head inside for a pizza party sponsored by the band as part of the Mission's "5/6 Freestyle" program, during which the community's kids will gather to play basketball, hang out and have fun. Imperial Stars will also present a check to the Mission during the"5/6 Freestyle."

On December 10, the group will hold a benefit concert and fundraising event at Hollywood's Highlands (6801 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, CA 90028 - http://www.thehighlandshollywood.com/). Prior to their performance, Imperial Stars will appear on stage with Armando Montelongo of A&E's Flip This House to present a check to The John Burton Foundation, a San Francisco-based non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for California's homeless children and developing policy solutions to prevent homelessness. The event begins at 10pm, with Imperial Stars performing at midnight.
