(PR) In 2002, legendary guitarist Joe Satriani performed the National Anthem for the. Now, that historic season opener is being recreated, complete with Satriani's stirring Anthem rendition, for the brand new Sony Pictures movie Moneyball starring Brad Pitt, based on the 2003 novel Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game by Michael M. Lewis.

Satriani will perform the National Anthem as he did on Opening Day back in 2002, keeping director Bennett Miller's pursuit of authentic recreation.

Filming for Joe's Anthem scene took place on August 3 in the Oakland Coliseum, site of the A's home stadium. Moneyball is the story of Oakland A's general manager Billy Beane's successful attempt to put together a baseball club on a budget, employing computer-generated analysis to draft his players using a modernized, analytical approach and assembling a competitive baseball team, despite Oakland's disadvantaged revenue situation.

Satriani's 14th studio album, Black Swans and Wormhole Wizards, produced and recorded by Mike Fraser (AC/DC, Metallica) and Satriani, has recently been completed and is set for release on October 5, 2010 through Epic Records. Joe is joined once again by veteran Satriani bandmate Jeff Campitelli on drums, and newcomers, keyboardist Mike Keneally (Frank Zappa, Steve Vai) and bassist Allen Whitman (Mermen) also adding to the sound. Satriani's classic sound is accompanied by a surprisingly rich texture of new material as well. This 11-track album's first single "Light Years Away" is destined to be a hit, with several other high energy offerings, like "Wormhole Wizards" and "Premonition." Satriani's World Tour promoting Black Swans . . . will begin in this fall, kicking off on October 16 in Dublin, Ireland with the North American dates starting on December 1 in Atlanta, hitting cities such as Chicago, New York, Boston and more (a second January '11 leg TBA).
