John Fogerty Taking Proud Mary Back On The Bayou
. "I've loved the music from New Orleans all my life, even before I knew where that music came from," said the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer. "So when Julie and I talked about doing something special for our anniversary, even though we were married in Indiana, we could not think of a better way to celebrate than going down to the bayou with our children and friends. The New Orleans area has gone through some tough times the last few years but the spirit there is amazing and we have always felt incredibly happy there." Not so coincidentally, John and Julie Fogerty are also penning a literary project set in a southern swamp. As part of the private occasion, Fogerty will perform "Proud Mary" on the riverboat, which will be renamed the Proud Mary for the day. "Proud Mary," written by Fogerty for his band Creedence Clearwater Revival, was originally released in January 1969 and appeared on their second album, Bayou Country, along with the swamp rock classic "Born On The Bayou." Fogerty kicks off his 2011-2012 world tour in May, including his first concert dates in South America. This summer, on August 14th, he will also perform at the Outside Lands Music & Art Festival in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, where Creedence Clearwater Revival first hit the music scene. In addition, a new record is in the works for Fogerty.
