Shins Plan New Album

(Gibson) It's been four years since the last Shins album (2007's Grammy-nominated Wincing the Night Away), but the wait is almost over for fans of the Portland-based alt-rockers. James Mercer and Co. will put out a new Shins album next year, via Mercer's own Aural Apothecary label, according to Billboard.

Aural Apothecary is associated with Columbia Records, which also is the home of Mercer's project with Danger Mouse, Broken Bells. In addition The Shins have announced a run of tour dates from now until October.

The band's current touring lineup is Mercer, Modest Mouse drummer Joe Plummer, Yuuki Matthews of Crystal Skulls, singer/songwriter Richard Swift and singer/songwriter Jessica Dobson. more on this story
