(Gibson) A music and film school for orphans has been opened in Sierra Leone by the family of late rock star Marc Bolan.

According to NME.com, the school has been built by Bolan's former partner, singer Gloria Jones, who survived the car crash that killed the glam rocker (famous for his work in T. Rex) in 1977.

The Mark Bolan School of Music and Film will teach 100 students who have been orphaned by the civil war in West Africa. Jones was helped by Marc Bolan tribute band singer Jed Dmochowski, who has been raising money for the school. more on this story
