The Polyphonic Spree have released a recently unearthed Christmas song as their new single, "It's Christmas," via their Good Records Recordings label.

"It's Christmas" is an original song composed by Spree leader Tim DeLaughter and recorded in 2003 during early sessions for the band's second album, "Together We're Heavy."

The track was lost in the shuffle of recording a new album at the time, but it was recently unearthed and mixed, and is now available for the first time.

As with all Good Records Recordings releases, "It's Christmas" is available as an MP3 or FLAC download, or a black vinyl release with a surprise B-side and artwork designed by the band and GRR house artist Nevada Hill. A limited-edition colored vinyl edition is also available, which includes the B-side and artwork, as well as a signed and numbered silkscreened print/cover suitable for framing. All formats are available here.

The Polyphonic Spree will present their Ninth Annual Holiday Extravaganza on Saturday, December 10, at the Lakewood Theater in Dallas. The event will include a headline set by the 21-member Spree, as well as a set of Christmas music by the band earlier in the evening. There will also be performances by the Syncopated Ladies dance troupe, the all-female tween rock band We're Not Dudes, and dj pendergrassin', as well as zoo animals, photos with Santa, live reindeer, costumed characters, and a true Texas rarity: snow. Fans are encouraged to bring both a can of food for the North Texas Food Bank and a new toy for Toys For Tots. For more information, go here.

The Spree will then close out 2011 with a New Year's Eve co-headline show with Centro-Matic at the House Of Blues in Dallas. Deathray Davies will support, and tickets are on sale now.
