(Gibson) Producer extraordinaire T-Bone Burnett lambasted the recording industry on February 9 for its ready acceptance of inferior sound quality. Burnett delivered his remarks in Los Angeles, at The Recording Academy Producers & Engineers Wing's 10th anniversary celebration.

As reported by Billboard.biz, Burnett said, "The music business made a mistake in its blind embrace of digital. I count MP3s among the worst blights ever on Earth."

Burnett, whose recent production credits include Gregg Allman's Low Country Blues, the Elton John/Leon Russell collaborative album The Union, and the latest Secret Sisters disc, went on to insist that the Recording Academy "develop a new audio standard for the 21st century." more on this story
