Here is the recap: (Gibson) Rare releases by Jimi Hendrix, AC/DC, Derek and the Dominos, Franz Ferdinand, Pearl Jam and Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers are among the albums, EPs and singles that will be available on Record Store Day, April 16. Record Store Day's U.K. site has announced some of the items that will be available exclusively at independent music retailers on that day.

Among the special releases: a 7" single from Derek and the Dominos that features the unreleased "Got to Get Better in a Little While" with "Layla" on the other side; Hendrix's "Fire" on 7" of red vinyl or on a three-track CD single; AC/DC's "Shoot to Thrill" and "War Machine" on a 7" vinyl single; and full-length vinyl LP versions of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers's self-titled debut and You're Gonna Get It.

One of the more interesting releases is a Franz Ferdinand EP that features covers of their songs by other artists, including LCD Soundsystem, Debbie Harry and Peaches. In other cases, bands have teamed up to "split" a single, which is the case with Green Day and Husker Du ("Don't Know if You are Lonely"), Mastodon and ZZ Top ("Just Got Paid") and Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Ramones ("Havana Affair"). - more on this story
