Guns N' Roses and Prince Members Recording With Soul Asylum

(Gibson) Yesterday we had a quick story about this in the digest, today Gibson provides a few more details: Soul Asylum have reconvened to record their first new album in five years. Frontman Dave Pirner and guitarist Dan Murphy have been working in Minneapolis and New Orleans on the follow-up to 2006's The Silver Lining, according to Billboard.com. They've enlisted assistance from drummer Michael Bland (Prince, Nick Jonas), who has toured and recorded with the band and Guns N' Roses bassist, and ex-Replacement, Tommy Stinson.

Stinson previously worked with the band on Silver Lining, due to Soul Asylum bassist Karl Mueller's death from cancer. The new album is tentatively titled Rough Air.

"I've been cutting vocals here in my studio, and we've cut a bunch of guitars," Pirner said. "When all four of us are in the studio together, it's pretty spectacular. more on this story
