The four plays in the series were captured in 2010 from the prestigious and internationally renowned Globe Theatre in London- Shakespeare's theatrical London home. Each performance will also include a special 20-minute behind-the-scenes feature, providing insights into the working of the Globe today and a study of each production. Featuring interviews with the actors and creative team involved, these extra features bring the world of Shakespeare's Globe and the plays in the series to life for audiences.

Henry IV Part 1 is the second play in Shakespeare's tetralogy dealing with the reigns of Richard II, Henry IV and Henry V, and depicts a span of history beginning with Hotspur's battle at Homildon and ends with the defeat of the rebels at Shrewsbury in 1403. This work of honor, rebellion and the struggle for power is thought to have been written no later than 1597. From the start it has been an extremely popular play both with the public and the critics with Roger Allam winning the 2011 Olivier Award for Best Actor for his role as Sir John Falstaff. The cast also includes Oliver Cotton as King Henry IV, Sam Crane as Hotspur and Jamie Parker as Prince Hal. The creative team includes Dominic Dromgoole (Director), Jonathan Fensom (Designer), Claire Van Kampen (Composer and Musical Director), Siān Williams (Choreographer) and Philip D'orleans (Fight Director.)

Following Henry IV Part 1, the Shakespeare's Globe London Cinema Series continues with Henry IV Part 2 on Thursday, August 18 at 6:30 p.m. and closes with Henry VIII on Thursday, September 15 at 6:30 p.m. The Merry Wives of Windsor was shown on June 27.
