Foo Fighters, Thirty Seconds to Mars and Linkin Park Up For VMAs

. (Gibson) MTV has announced the nominees for this year's Video Music Awards. Katy Perry leads the artists in contention with nine nods. Other nominees include Foo Fighters, Thirty Seconds to Mars, The Black Keys, Kanye West, Beastie Boys, Adele and Linkin Park.

The Best Rock Video category includes The Black Keys, "Howlin' for You"; Foster the People, "Pumped Up Kicks"; Cage the Elephant, "Shake Me Down"; Foo Fighters, "Walk"; and Mumford and Sons, "The Cave."

Meanwhile, Adele, Katy Perry, Beastie Boys, Bruno Mars and Tyler, the Creator are up for Video of the Year. The awards show will air on MTV at 9 p.m. ET on August 28. more on this story
