CMT Music Awards Performers Dominate The Top 5 Country Singles Chart

It apparently pays to be asked to perform at the CMT Music Awards, just ask the artists who appeared on the live telecast on Wednesday, June 8.

According to SoundScan, four of the top five Country Singles were performed on the CMT Music Awards with Jason Aldean's "Dirt Road Anthem" claiming the #1 spot.

Aldean brought down the house during his collaboration with Ludacris, and sales of the track following the show increased 99 percent, while the single reached the #4 spot on the overall Digital Songs chart.

Show performers Keith Urban and Jason Aldean posted huge percentage gains in both album and digital track sales, while Toby Keith's brand new single "Made In America," debuted at an impressive #24 on SoundScan's Country digital track chart. Host Kid Rock also went home a winner, generating the largest percentage increase in full album sales following the telecast.

"Artists like Jason Aldean embody the spirit of the CMT Awards. We encouraged him to take a bold song and make it bigger," said Brian Philips, president, CMT. "A watershed moment, driven by the power of CMT millions, can change the game. We're glad the show was able to provide helpful exposure for so many of our favorite stars."
