.
Man Convicted of Killing Mother Over Avril Lavigne Tickets was a top 11 story of 2011 for September. Here is the recap: An Illinois man, Robert Lyons, has been convicted of the first degree murder of his mother which took place after he got into a dispute with her over tickets to an Avril Lavigne concert in March of 2008.

Rock NYC reports: "His mother Linda Bolek refused to ask her friend to see if Lyons could get skybox tickets to see Avril. He became increasingly agitated. He hit her in the head with a champagne bottle, then stabbed her repeatedly afterwards in the back. Then he called his friends and said she threatened him with a knife and struggled back to save himself.

"A few hours later he was arrested in Schaumburg, Illinois at a Hooters restaurant." - read in-depth coverage of the case here.
