Ministry's Mike Scaccia Dies After Collapsing On Stage

(Gibson) Mike Scaccia, the guitarist for Ministry and Rigor Mortis and a beloved guitar clinician for Gibson Guitar, died on Saturday night.

Scaccia was performing onstage at the Rail Club in Fort Worth, Texas, as part of a 50th birthday celebration for Rigor Mortis singer Bruce Corbitt, when he collapsed.

He was quickly taken to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:26 A.M. Scaccia was 47.

Born on July 14th, 1965 in Babylon, New York, Scaccia formed the thrash metal band, Rigor Mortis, in 1983. Six years later, Scaccia was invited to join Ministry by founder and front man Al Jourgensen. The first full-length Ministry album to feature Scaccia was 1992's 'Psalm 69: The Way to Succeed and the Way to Suck Eggs," which included such industrial metal standards as "Jesus Built My Hotrod" and "N.W.O." Scaccia also appeared on Ministry's 2012 album 'Relapse.'

Corbitt (Rigor Mortis) released the following statement on Facebook: "My brother is gone! The only reason I am who I am is because of this man." more on this story
