Mike Portnoy, Slayer's Kerry King and Free's Andy Fraser Join Marshall Event

07/26/2012
.
Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater), Andy Fraser (Free) and Kerry King (Slayer) have been added to the lineup for the Marshall Amps 50th Anniversary Event.

They join the previously announced lineup featuring members of Iron Maiden, Slipknot, Whitesnake, Chickenfoot, The Cult, Black Label Society, Deep Purple, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath plus host comedian, The Pub Landlord, Al Murray at Wembley arena on Saturday 22nd September 2012.

Kerry King commented; "If I stand in front of my rig, if my nuts ain't shaking then I ain't satisfied . . . and the only stuff that can do that is my Marshalls! Marshall has help helped shape my career in so many ways. The company even produced my very own fearsome, ass kicking signature amp " The Beast" . To me Jim Marshall was the ultimate rock star because he and his team made us all sound better. It's an incredible honour to have my signature on an amp right next to him and an incredible honour to play at this event. Let's make it thunder!"

Organizers sent over these details: Following the sad news of Jim Marshall's death earlier this month the event, which was already planned to commemorate Marshall's 50th Anniversary, will now be held in honor of the legendary man and his remarkable life. To celebrate Jim's 50 legendary years of musical innovation, Marshall is taking over Wembley arena for a full on rock n roll riot.

The line up for the event reads like a who's who from the Rock and Metal Hall of Fame. The Marshall team is bringing together the biggest rock gods on the planet all of whom are keen to pay their respects to the legend that was Jim Marshall.

Broadcaster and comedian Al Murray will compθre the event alongside Iron Maiden's Nicko McBrain and they will be joined by the world's most legendary guitarists, acclaimed musicians and Marshall enthusiasts. Mike Portnoy, Andy Fraser and Kerry King join the acts previously announced for the event including multiple Grammy nominee and Chickenfoot super-group founder Joe Satriani, Ozzy Osbourne collaborator and founder of Black Label Society Zakk Wylde, one of rock's premiere virtuoso guitarists Yngwie Malmsteen, technical wizard and Guitar Magazine's "Top 10 Greatest Guitar Shredders of All Time" Paul Gilbert, Whitesnake's Doug Aldrich and Brian Tichy, The Cult's Billy Duffy, Slipknot/ Stone Sour front man Corey Taylor, Judas Priest frontman Tim 'Ripper' Owens and Trapeze, Deep Purple and Black Sabbath vocalist and bassist Glenn Hughes.. There are also further big names to be announced.
