(Classic Rock) James Hetfield is glad his Metallica bandmates forced him to record Nothing Else Matters for inclusion in their 1991 Black Album.

The frontman didn't believe it had any place in the thrash giants' catalogue but since its release it's become a firm fan favourite. And guitarist Kirk Hammett admits there's some truth behind the long-running joke about his struggles to learn the song.

"It's absolutely crazy. That was the song I thought was least Metallica, least likely to ever be played by us the last song anyone would really want to hear.," Hetfield tells the Village Voice. "It was a song for myself in my room on tour when I was bumming out about being away from home.
