(Gibson) Dave Grohl will handle drum duties on Queens of the Stone Age's next album, Josh Homme has confirmed. Homme made the announcement yesterday (Nov. 6) on BBC Radio 1, saying drummer Joey Castillo was no longer with the group. "[Grohl] and I have this wonderful musical relationship which we don't have with other people," the Queens of the Stone Age frontman said. "It's a very cool and comfortable position."

Grohl previously manned the drum kit for Queens of the Stone Age's 2002 breakout album, Songs for the Deaf. He and Homme also comprise two-thirds of the acclaimed supergroup, Them Crooked Vultures.

Homme went on to say Queens of the Stone Age have nearly completed their new album, due for release sometime in 2013. Earlier this week it was announced the band would perform at England's Download Festival next June. It's unclear whether Grohl will join the group on tour. more on this story
