Annette Funicello Dead at 70

(Extra) "Extra" reports that 'Americas Sweetheart', Annette Funicello, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 70. Annette's family confirms to "Extra" that she died in a Bakersfield area hospital after being in a coma due to her battle with multiple sclerosis. Annette's family was by her side.

Annette who first debuted on a new children's variety TV show called the "Mickey Mouse Club" when she was twelve years old went on to become the most popular "Mouseketeer" on the show, attracting fans all around the world.

In 1992 at age 50, Annette went public with devastating news -- she had multiple sclerosis. She had the most severe form of the disease and over the years lost her ability to walk, relying first on a cane, then on a wheelchair.
