Bon Jovi's New Jersey 25th Anniversary Celebrated In The Studio (A Top Story)
. By Summer 1988, Bon Jovi had been on a two year global assault resulting in the breakout success of their 9 million selling Slippery When Wet album. Bon Jovi's tireless touring, good hooks and good looks had paid off in the rock'n'roll lottery, but ultimately a follow-up was due. Expectations were high both outside and inside the band, but ambitions were equal to the task, and New Jersey, the band's fourth album, was born producing an unprecedented five Top 10 singles including; "Lay Your Hands On Me", "Born To Be My Baby", "Blood on Blood", plus the # 1s "I'll Be There For You" and "Bad Medicine". Jon reveals to InTheStudio host Redbeard that even though Bon Jovi was riding high, he found that period of his career to be a difficult experience. "What I didn't get out of that experience was the pure pleasure of it. And a lot of that had to do with a lot of good people trying to get me to do a job, but not having the foresight to see that these kids were going to get exhausted and burned out, and not enjoy it." - Stream the episode here.
