. The singer debuted at No. 1 this week with her new self-titled "visual album" � comprised of 14 songs and 17 videos � selling over 617,000 copies. According to Billboard, Queen Bey made chart history with the record, which was exclusively sold via iTunes, becoming the first woman to hit No. 1 with her first five studio albums. The only other two acts who have debuted at No. 1 with their first five albums are rapper DMX and folk group The Kingston Trio. "I didn't want to release my music the way I've done it," Knowles said in a press release issued shortly after the album appeared on iTunes. "I am bored with that. I feel like I am able to speak directly to my fans. There's so much that gets between the music, the artist and the fans. I felt like I didn't want anybody to give the message when my record is coming out.
