Jonny Lang Explains His Voice Change On New Album

12/24/2013
.
(The Blues) Jonny Lang says his first studio album in seven years has underlined how much he's learned since the release of Turn Around in 2006 and that includes how to use his voice and who to make music for.

Fight For My Soul was launched in September and sees Lang delivering a vocal style very different from his early works. He tells ADN: "I don't know how to explain it. I didn't necessarily try to sound like that it's just what came out. I've learned how to sing better, or closer to what I would like to do in my mind."

Lang says of his earlier performances: "Some of that rasp was just me destroying my voice. I used to lose my voice all the time. It's gotten more powerful but less distorted; I can still do that, but it comes with a cost." more on this story
