Country music legend Patti Page, one of the most popular female singers of all time, died on New Year's Day in Encinitas, Ca. at the age of 85. A cause of death was not known by her manager. Another country music legend, George Jones, offered this tribute to page:
"I just loved singing with Patti and she hit notes I never dreamed of! We cut some songs together and it was a great time.
"She'll be missed by lots of folks and everybody needs to know how great she was.
