antiMusic Travel Editor Kevin Wierzbicki tells us about what we can expect at this year's globalFEST which is taking place on January 13th in New York City.

You might have seen a globalFEST showcase at Bonnaroo or at the huge South by Southwest Festival in Austin but those are mere teases compared to the full day of world music you can experience at globalFEST 2013, this year taking place at Webster Hall in Manhattan's East Village.

Scheduled to appear are Malian singer Fatoumata Diawara, flamenco funk-rockers La Shica (Madrid, Spain), Hungary's Roma Gypsy accordion man Parno Graszt, "pow wow" music DJs and audio-visual artists A Tribe Called Red (Canada), Christine Salem from the island of Reunion who sings Maloya music accompanied by kayanm (a percussion instrument) and French band Lo'Jo.

Also appearing will be Kayhan Kalhor and Erdal Erzincan, the Martha Redbone Roots Project, Mucca Pazza, La Santa Cecilia and Stephane Wrembel and His Band.
