Sharon Jones Diagnosed With Cancer
. Namesake and dynamic leader of the soul-revival favorites, Sharon Jones, has been diagnosed with stage-one bile duct cancer. The cancer was discovered early and it is expected that surgery will give Jones a full recovery. In a statement, Jones further explained her situation. "Over the last few weeks I haven't felt good and I didn't know what was going on. We sadly had to cancel shows while I went through a series of tests and short hospital stays. We just found out that I have a stage-one tumor on my bile duct. Luckily we caught it really early and fast and the doctors say it's operable and curable!" She continued: "I will be having surgery very soon and will have to rest and recover. I'll be staying in touch and keeping my fans and friends updated on my progress. I'm looking forward to getting back on the road to give the people what they want!" Bile duct cancer starts in the lining of the bile duct. The main function of bile is to break down fats in food to help digestion, WebMD explains. The cause of most bile duct cancer is unknown but according to WebMD, Stage 1 cancer is only found in the bile duct and can be removed by a simple surgery. more on this story Radio.com is an official news provider for antiMusic.com.
