Bob Marley Classics Get The EDM Treatment
Produced by DJ-producer Jason Bentley, the album boasts remixes by Z-Trip, Pretty Lights, Jim James, RAC, Roni Size, Nicodemus, Photek, Beats Antique, Thievery Corporation and Lee "Scratch" Perry.
Among the remixed reggae classics are "Buffalo Soldier" (listen below), "Redemption Song," "I Shot The Sherriff," "Jamming," "Get Up Stand Up" and a revved-up "No Woman No Cry."
"This is one of the coolest projects that I could ever be asked to be a part of," explained Derek Smith (AKA Pretty Lights) in an album trailer. "These recordings are cherished."
It comes as no surprise that Legend finally received the EDM treatment. Containing all 10 of Marley's top-40 hits, it's one of the world's most popular albums. Originally released in in 1984, Legend has sold more than 25 million copies globally, has been heralded as one of Rolling Stone's 500 greatest albums of all time and boasts a whopping 992 non-consecutive weeks on the Billboard 200 album chart.
"To take on a project like this, you have to have the right state of mind and the right focus to understanding and respect what has been before. But this is just another form of expressing it," says Bob's son, Ziggy Marley, in the trailer. Check out the trailer and song stream.
