(Radio.com) Demi Lovato performed at the B96 Summer Bash (a Radio.com station) in Chicago on Saturday (June 15) in support of her latest album Demi. While there, Lovato surprised concert goers and fans with a touching speech about her particular connection to the city where her rehab facility was located.

"So before I start this next song, I just want to tell you guys a little story. Really fast, not going to take up too much time," Lovato said. "A couple years ago, it's no secret, I had to go into treatment for a bunch of issues. I mean, I could name them all [but] we we ain't got time. I had to go away to treatment and I want to let you know that this treatment center is called Timberline Knolls. It was here in Lemont, Illinois."

"Every time that I play Chicago, I don't know what it is," Lovato continued. "Maybe it's because I felt so much love here and I've been through so much. I just want you guys to know that when I come to Chicago, I never forget that this place is the place that saved my life.

"If anybody out there is dealing with an eating disorder, substance abuse, cutting, bullying, whatever it is I want you guys to know that I've been through it and that I've gotten through it and you can do it too."

Lovato was reportedly treated for depression, alcoholism and cutting, along with an eating disorder. Since undergoing treatment, she has been active in anti-bullying campaigns and has used her voice to raise awareness about eating disorders. Check out video here.
