John Mayer Releases New 'Paper Doll' Single
. In the clip we see Mayer in the studio putting the final touches on his new single "Paper Doll." He grabs an acoustic guitar as he hums the lyrics while producer Don Was ( who as previously produced albums for a pair of Mayer's idols, The Rolling Stones and Bonnie Raitt) looks on. The song "Paper Doll" embodies the Mayer sound we're familiar with. His smooth vocals are heard above his distinct guitar playing. "Paper doll come try it on/Step outside of that black chiffon/Here's a dress of gold and blue/Sure was fun being good to you," he sings at the track's opening. While fans have been attempting to decipher the lyrics, whether the track may allude to former flames Taylor Swift or Katy Perry is unclear. "You're like 22 girls in one and none of them know what they're running from/Was it just too far to fall for a little paper doll?" he sings on the chorus. Check out the video clip here.
