Spiders From Mars and Uriah Heep Stars Speak At Trevor Bolder Funeral (A Top Story)

.
On Wednesday Spiders From Mars and Uriah Heep Stars Speak At Trevor Bolder Funeral was a top story. Here is the recap: (Classic Rock) Spiders From Mars drummer Woody Woodmansey has paid tribute to bassist Trevor Bolder, who died of cancer last month at the age of 62. Bolder's funeral took place in Hull on Monday, attended by friends and fans after his family extended an open invitation for anyone who wanted to attend.

Woodmansey, who was among the 600 present at St Mary's Church, Beverly, tells the Hull Daily Mail: "I am honoured to have known him as a friend.

"He was one of the few friends you might not see for a few years and yet, meeting up with him again, it was as if you'd only seen him yesterday.

"He was a world-class bass player. You've just got to read the list of who he played with: David Bowie, Wishbone Ash, Uriah Heep. He did what he wanted to do and he made a difference. I'm going to miss him."

Heep mainman Mick Box admits he was reduced to tears during the ceremony. "I very much respected Trevor as a bass player, a singer, a songwriter and a friend," he says.

"He was never one to go on about his previous successes; he was modest to the core and very quiet unless he had a few brandies inside him! He was a deep thinker, really quite spiritual." - more on this story
