Regis Philbin Asked How He Thinks His Replacement Is Doing

03/07/2013
.
(Extra) Veteran TV host Regis Philbin's retirement is officially about to end with the announcement on Tuesday that he will host a sports-panel show on FOX Sports 1.

"Extra" was with Philbin at the press conference and asked him how he thought Michael Strahan was doing as his replacement on "Live!" with former co-host Kelly Ripa.

"Strahan is brilliant, and when it came time to narrow it down, it was my observation that it should be Strahan. It's obvious what he's done… Kelly is smiling."

As for his new gig, Regis said he is thrilled to be making a comeback. His new show, "Rush Hour," will air weeknights from 5:00-6:00. more on this story
