(hennemusic) As expected, Jimi Hendrix has scored his highest-charting album in 44 years. The guitar icon's new set, "People, Hell & Angels," debuts at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Billboard reports the album sold 72,000 copies during its first week of release to land behind Country music star Luke Bryan's first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart,"Spring Break . . . Here to Party," which debuts atop the list with opening week sales of 150,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Hendrix' new album contains 12 previously unreleased studio recordings completed between 1968 and 1970. more on this story
