It appears each artist had the home field advantage in the battle for No. 1 between David Bowie and Bon Jovi.

Yesterday we told you how David Bowie's new album outsold Bon Jovi's new album in the UK, giving Bowie the No. 1 spot on the album charts. Today we learn that Bon Jovi has captured the No. 1 spot in the U.S. with Bowie taking the No. 2 spot.

Bon Jovi's new release "What About Now," debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 chart after selling 96,000 copies its first week in stores. This gave the New Jersey band their fifth No. 1 album on the chart.

David Bowie's "The Next Day" sold 85,000 copies last week, landing him at No. 2, his highest sales week in the SoundScan era (which started in 1991).

Billboard has a report with more details about each artist's historical chartings here.
