(Radio.com) Nearly a month ago, we reported that Daft Punk's return was "imminent," after signing to Columbia Records and posting a new image to its website. Days later, a 15-second ad was played during Saturday Night Live that got the rumor mill swirling some more.
Now, the return is official — and with a new album to show for it. Random Access Memories, the first studio full-length from the electronic duo since 2005′s Human After All, will see a May 21st release, according to the album's iTunes pre-order information.
In conjunction with the new album, Daft Punk's website redirects to a new site, RandomAccessMemories.com, which includes a teaser of new song "Get Lucky." Even on the brief snippet, you can hear the influence of disco legend, Chic leader and producer Nile Rodgers, who worked with the French duo on the album.
"About a year ago, I get a knock on the door – first a virtual one and then a real knock – from [Daft Punk's] Guy-Manuel and Thomas," Rodgers said during a Q&A session at Miami Ultra Music Conference Friday (March 22). "The collaboration felt so unbelievably natural that it made me realize that I need to be in the studio with people. I love partnering with people. And then from that moment, a windfall of recording started happening. I just started going in with whomever I could." more on this story
