(hennemusic) The rumors and speculation have been put to rest: The Rolling Stones have confirmed their headline appearance at the Glastonbury festival on Saturday, June 29.

The Stones' festival appearance follows what is expected to be an 18-date arena tour of North American starting in early May.

The festival will also feature Mumford & Sons, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Vampire Weekend, Phoenix, Elvis Costello, Portishead, Smashing Pumpkins, The xx, Arctic Monkeys, Alabama Shakes, Johnny Marr, Portishead, Two Door Cinema Club, Alt-J and more.

Members of the Rolling Stones took to Twitter to express their excitement about playing the event: "Can't wait to play Glastonbury," tweeted Mick Jagger on Wednesday. "I have my wellies and my yurt!"

"We all had such a ball last year, and the energy between the band is so good," added Keith Richards. "We can't wait to play Glastonbury, see you on a summer's day in England!" more on this story
