(Classic Rock) Eric Kitteringham, who was the bass player with Rory Gallagher's groundbreaking band Taste, has died after an illness. He was 66.

He was a member of the Irish rock and blues trio's first incarnation between 1966 and 1968, along with future guitar icon Rory Gallagher and drummer Norman Damery.

By that time he'd helped cement the band's reputation as one of most energetic live outfits of all time, a tagline that characterized Gallagher's career until his death in 1995.

Hot Press reports: "A big presence in the Cork scene during the 1960s, he began with Damery in The Axels before going on to make history with Gallagher over two years, during which they played at home and in many of the Beatles' old Hamburg haunts." more on this story
