Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj Not Returning To American Idol

American Idol has officially lost two more judges as Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj both announced on Thursday that they will not be returning to the show next season.

Both Minaj and Carey posted messages on Twitter telling fans they are leaving the show to focus on their music projects. They join Randy Jackson who had previously announced that he was leaving the show.

Carey broke the news to fans by reTweeting a message from her reps that said, "W/ global success of "#Beautiful" (#1 in 30+ countries so far) @MariahCarey confirms world tour & says goodbye 2 Idol."

Minaj Tweeted her followers, "Thank you American Idol for a life changing experience! Wouldn't trade it for the world! Time to focus on the Music!!! Mmmuuuaahhh!!!"

There has been speculation that the producers of American Idol were looking at replacing the entire judging panel after the show suffered a massive drop in the ratings this past season.

At this point, there is only one judge of the original four, country music star Keith Urban, who has not announced their departure.
