House Star Hugh Laurie Understands Music Fan's Skepticism

(The Blues) Hugh Laurie understands why blues fans might be skeptical over his change of direction from acting to recording and performing music. In fact, he was sceptical himself, to the point that when he was invited to make his first album in 2011, he refused the opportunity at first.

Laurie, best-known for playing TV doctor House, tells AJC.com: "There's fear, uncertainty, 'I'm not qualified' all of those natural feelings that inhibit all of us.

"The first time someone came to me and said, 'Do you want to do this?' I said, 'No, I'm not ready. Then I thought, 'This may not come my way again. I don't want to be the guy in 10 years saying, I could have done that.'

"I don't think anyone is ever really ready. Even astronauts counting down for liftoff are probably sitting there saying, 'I never read paragraph seven in the manual'" He had a lot more to say.
