Mariah Carey Returns To Balladeer Roots With The Art of Letting Go
. The Rodney Jerkins-produced track features the singer calling out an ex-lover: "Your audacity is too much to be believed/ So go to Mimi on your contacts, press delete." The '60s-style production, complete with back-up singers, harkens back to "Vision of Love," off her self-titled debut, released way back in 1990. Mariah shared the trackher first since releasing "#Beautiful" featuring Miguel back in Maywith fans via her Facebook page. "This is such a personal record to me," she penned. "I wrote the lyrics so that anyone and everyone could relate to them and hopefully release anything that they need to let go of that's holding them back or bringing them down." Carey also took to Facebook to answer questions from her fans, including whether she was nervous to return to a music video set after suffering a shoulder injury on her last shoot for the remix to "#Beautiful." "One never gives up when you love what you do," she wrote. "You just have to keep pressing on. Plus I have to thank my team for such a quick recovery about 95% better.. still hurts though so please don't slap me on the back should you see me in the street!" Listen to the new song here.
