(Radio.com) Keith Urban is back on top. This week he scored his 16th No. 1 song on both the Mediabase and Billboard country singles charts with "We Were Us," the second chart-topping single (after "Little Bit of Everything") from his recently released album Fuse. "We Were Us" features Miranda Lambert, and it marks the first male/female duet to reach No. 1 in more than two years, since Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood's "Remind Me" topped the charts in September of 2011.

In an interview with Radio.com earlier this year, Urban said the moment he heard the song he knew he wanted to enlist Lambert on the track. "I just love Miranda's voice. I love her artistry. We did some shows together many years ago. She got up and did a song with me each night, and I loved our voices together. So, in the back of my mind I've always hoped I could find a song that we could do," he said. "The song 'We Were Us' came along, and it's not the kind of song Miranda would normally do, but her voice is the first one I heard in my head. I called her up and sent her the song, and she loved it and came to the studio. Blake [Shelton] came along as well and hung out for the day. I'm just so happy at the way it turned out."

Lambert had only praises for her duet partner in a behind-the-song video. "He's been someone that's inspired me along the way. He was the first tour I ever did. So watching him onstage when I was just a young artist, and learning from him, how to perform live and getting to be in the studio with him, and watching the way he records is really cool," she said. "He's really intense and takes what he does seriously." more on this story
