(Radio.com) Anderson High School in Austin, Texas is probably the coolest school in America, all thanks to Phoenix. Monday night (October 7), the high school hosted a secret show from the French band. How did they get Phoenix to play? According to KUT News in Austin, it was all PBS' doing.

The PBS TV series Live From the Artists Den put out a call for an old Texas high school gym to shoot a concert in. They then reached out to the principal at Anderson High School, Donna Houser, whose gym just happened to fit the bill.

"We have probably the smallest gymnasium in all of Texas for a 5A high school," Houser told KUT News. "It's an old, old gym, was built in 1973. It really has never been renovated."

The principal admitted she had never heard of Phoenix, but after checking out the band's musicshe needed to make sure the lyrics were appropriate for her studentsshe now says she's a fan.

Unfortunately, not all of the school's 2,000 students could attend, but those who had good attendance and no tardies were given a chance to win tickets. Those 450 students who were in attendance got a chance to hear the band play hits like "1901," "Lisztomania" and "Entertainment," off their latest album, Bankrupt!. more on this story
