(Radio.com) The Lumineers have turned to longtime band associate Nicholas Sutton Bell to direct the video for "Submarines," the latest single from the group's eponymous 2012 debut full-length.

"We've been working with Nick for a while now and love his style and aesthetic on static images," said Lumineers frontman Wesley Schultz in a press release about the clip, which was inspired in part by the video game Limbo. "We were excited to see what he could do on a full length animated video and we just love it."

Fans of the band will already be familiar with Bell's work, as he's been responsible for Lumineers posters as well as tour and online merchandise for years.

"We used a line-based DaVinci-esque style for the characterizations, and supplemented that with a wool texture and a whiskey color scheme," the video's director explained of the clip's melancholy tale of a sad sailor sitting at the bar, contemplating life through a series of surrealistic underwater images.
