(TeamRock Radio) Star Trek icon William Shatner has recorded his fourth studio album, this time a prog rock album with axe heroes Steve Vai and Mick Jones, he's revealed.

The concept record is called Ponder The Mystery and the actor immortalised as Captain James T Kirk says he's tackled themes of "ageing, depression, love and beauty."

The 82-year-old adds: "It's quite possible the most creative thing I've ever done." The new album follows his 2011 release Seeking Major Tom, for which he enlisted the talents of Ritchie Blackmore, Steve Howe, Sheryl Crow, John Wetton and others. It included his take on Queen classic Bohemian Rhapsody, which you can check out here.
